MORE THAN just a GYM

My name is Richard and I am the familiar face that you will see at HIIT Fitness gym. I was born and bred in a small town south of Palmerston North called Otaki. I was brought up by two loving and hard-working parents on the family market farm. From a young age, they instilled in me the importance of a good work ethic.

After finishing high school I enrolled in the NZ Army and took up the trade of Chef. Along the way, I learnt a lot about myself and the importance of exercise. This is where I was first introduced to the gym environment and bootcamps, and subsequently, this is where my passion for fitness began.

In 2011 I gained my qualification in Exercise and Sports Performance. 2012 is where my humble beginnings began with running bootcamps in the park. Slowly, one friend brought another and it grew steadily from there. In 2014, I took the plunge and decided to open up my own Palmerston North gym and this marked the beginning of HIIT Fitness.

I wanted HIIT Fitness to be a personable, affordable, and homely environment for members to experience. I am proud to say that over the past 8 years, we continue to achieve that goal.

Over the years we have expanded and grown to encompass more than just bootcamps. We offer a range of classes and opportunities for members wanting to join. We would love for you to join the team!

The Gym

Our goal is to offer customers a gym experience that is not based on mass membership numbers but on personal interaction with members. This means that goals are met in realistic time frames and plateaus are overcome quickly.

The Gym is equipped with the latest machines from Life Fitness:

Fit3D SCANNER

We also offer the use of a 3D body scanner for our clients, which generates an accurate personalised report of your body composition in under three minutes. The 3D scanner will send the data to your device which details your weight, body fat percentage, measurements, fat mass, lean mass and more. This report is a great way to track your progress, or a benchmark to work towards a specific goal. The handles on our machine help with accurate capture, and Fit3D continually updates the algorithms for the most accurate body fat predictions.


8 WEEK CHALLENGES

One of the competitions that we run at HIIT Fitness is 8-week challenges! These are great to challenge yourself with a bit of healthy competition.

Clients sign up and complete a fitness test and a 3D body scan at the beginning and end of the challenge. The satisfaction of seeing and feeling the changes within your body over the course of the programme is really exciting. There are many benefits to fitness challenges including providing structure and its a great way to track your progress.

Overall, at HIIT Fitness we are proud to say that we offer more than just a gym experience, we are a real community. Beyond your individual fitness goals, the community allows us to find a sense of belonging. This is what supports us through some difficult moments and helps inject a sense of fun into our day, and reminds us of something essential: we’re all in this together!
